Abstract

Each year, IEEE Transactions on Nuclear Science selects a paper published in the third year prior to the year of the award to be recognized as the most significant paper published in that year.  After examining the number of downloads, online views, and citations accumulated by candidate papers during the three years prior to the year of the award, the editors collectively make a selection from among the top candidates.  This year, the paper "Needs, Trends, and Advances in Inorganic Scintillators," by C. Dujardin, E. Auffray, E. Bourret-Courchesne, P. Dorenbos, P. Lecoq , M. Nikl, A. N. Vasil’ev, A. Yoshikawa, and R.-Y. Zhu, published as TNS 65 (2018) 1977, has won the 2021 Best Paper Award.
